The museum was founded in 1969 and is located in a historical hotel near Lovington’s main street. The museum displays exhibits on Lea County’s history, dating back to 1917 when Lea County was officially created. The museum also offers books for sale from local authors and plays host to book tours, signings, poetry readings, and more. Entrance to most exhibits is free and the museum occasionally hosts local music artists, free movies, and more activities for locals.
